Ultrasonics will not remove metal staining or the dulling of aluminium castings that inevitably happens with the passing of time. Again, industrial quality equipment of various types is available that will bring a dull oxidized yet clean component back to “as new”.

 

Metal polishing

Smooth cast alloy components (originally often covered with lacquer by the manufacturer) will dull with age.  When any lacquer covering gets damaged, oxidation sets in and damage to the finish results.  The answer is repolishing on industrial quality machines by experienced staff.

 

Cost example:

Ultrasonic cleaning: a dismantled set of 4 Mikuni VM series carburetors:   £60 plus return postage . Turnaround time- 2 working days.

 

PLEASE NOTE: There is a lot of rubbish quoted by firms offering cleaning services. Talk of set up fees is nonsense. With the correct equipment, cleaning a set of dismantled carburettors is seldom more than 2 hours work so charges of £150 are simply not justifiable. Remember, this UCC service is offered by JRS, to JRS operational standards:-simply the best.
